Greetings from cheeseland, Myself, and probably a friend, are coming your way on a disc adventure in late March/early April. We will be playing northwestern Illinois on the way and plan to hit E. Moline, Moline, and Camden. Anything we should know about these links? This should constitute our first day's golfing, and we are hoping someone in the Quad Cities would be willing to show us some hospitality and give us a floor to lay our heads on for a night. And, play a round or two the following day if possible. Can someone suggest the "top" two or three courses in the Quad Cities? I realize you have lots of courses and probably love them all; but, we will only have time for a couple this trip. Regarding the hospitality, I will be bringing home made wooden gifts to say thanks, and will also extend the possibility of staying in my home sometime, in Appleton (just south of Green Bay), Wisconsin. We have a good number of good courses in the immediate area (Appleton hosted 98 AM WORLDS), and another couple of handfuls within an hour radius. A little background: I have played more than 100 courses in Wis., and in 38 states total. Have thrown in 30+ parks in Illinois, and a little more than 10 in Iowa. I am a 46 year old family man, with 2 grandsons. Am very much looking forwards to greener/warmer pastures, and to an intense/fun disc trip. Thanks for any help, Paul Anderson #9066 |

Hi Paul, I can help with descriptions of the courses around here. But probably will not be able to play. Depends on the weekend.... I recommend 3 places to play around the QC. And one of the parks has 2 courses..... Camden I: A nice old course with a good mix of holes ranging in various lengths. 8 open holes and the rest are in the woods. Camden II: A new course that is much longer than its' counterpart. And almost every hole is in the woods. It has a great up/down style. And is a real challenge. Middle Park: A really nice park course. Every hole features 3 basket positions. Depending on where the baskets are set, the longest hole will be about 1000 feet. It has a good mix of hyzer/anhyzer shots. A really fun course to play. West Lake: This is a ball golf style course with 24 holes. But it has a nice mix of short/long and hyzer/anhyzer holes. I think the longest hole is about 950 feet. But it is lined with trees and bushes with a very distinct fairway. It's a 3 shotter to the basket. Really fun to play. If I'm not mistaken, these courses will be played for the USWDGC. And I think there may be a new course coming in the area soon. I heard rumors of a course on Credit Island..... I'm a family guy too. So I'll talk to the Government here about a floor to lay on. How many are coming? John Hemm #9610 |

At the moment, only me for sure. Two at the most. I am trying to find a fellow adventurer. I was in Zurich (sp?) for a couple of days during my u.s. Army time, @1983. Beautiful country. Thanks for help. Let me know what the government says... Paul |
